Yesterday I had the opportunity to put my speaking abilities to the test as I competed in the Sierra Buttes Opening and Closing Ceremonies contest. During this competition, a team of 6 or 7 members (President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Reporter, Sentinel and an optional Historian) recite lines which are used to open and close an FFA meeting. Each individual is scored independently in the categories of voice, stage presence, power of experience and accuracy. Then, all individual scores are summed up to obtain a team score. The Lincoln FFA Officer Team placed 2nd overall while I was recognized as a high individual, which means that out of all the Officer Team Presidents, I presented my lines most effectively. It was such an honor to receive this award once again as it reminds me of why I began in FFA, to further myself as a leader and public speaker. #foreverblue #FFA #LincolnFFA #president #publicspeaking #leadership
