Yesterday, I had the pleasure of learning more about the Nurse-Family Partnership program run by St. Lukes University Health Network. The Nurse Family Partnership program offers help to low-income women who are going to be a Mom for the first time. A registered nurse works with an expectant mother for approximately two-and-a-half years, from near the beginning of pregnancy until the child is two years old. The program works to increase the positive medical outcomes of both the young mom and child. The St. Luke’s NFP program began in 2001 and has provided care to more than 1400 first-time moms and their families. The program is currently serving 225 moms and babies. Thank you to St. Lukes for the invitation to visit! My thanks as well to Eileen and her little guy Jacob (20 months old) and to Nurse Jane for explaining the program and answering my questions. #HealthyBabies
