"Yesterday I had the privilege to visit Kiribati and witness first-hand the impactful work being accomplished during our annual Pacific Partnership mission. This is a true team effort by many nations and organizations to assist the Oceania region in long-term improvements to disaster response. The U.S. Pacific Fleet is always prepared for battle, but we also operate to preserve the peace. Ultimately, multilateral missions such as Pacific Partnership strengthen relationships that are critical to deter conflict, increase regional stability, and enhance peace and prosperity.
