Yesterday I heard a story about the invention of the cowboy hat not something I typically care about but it was a worthwhile distraction for me on this day this day in Colorado where the hat was invented due to the gold rush the chance at fortune the movement of the American dream across this land we seem to call ours the zombie like pilgrimage to procure something that does no one really any good other then for some reason be valuable to other people which it does no good for people moved from the eastern side of the United States for a chance to feed there children for a chance to home stead for a chance at a dream one man who latched on to this dream had a father the father he had was a hat maker I think the son of the hat maker wanted a chance at a different life but coming to Colorado he saw that his lineage had some thing to offer this land people had come from all over for there chance to find gold they came with top hats they came with coon skin they came with all the types of hats there were but none of them fit the bill the bills in this case were to large or to small made to warm and some times to tall so the son went back to the east coast to create a hat for opportunity one that the believers in the dream could work in that would keep them dry and warm but not hot that kept some sun out but let some sun in to as well and the hat he made sold but this was not the hat we call the cowboy hat this was only a platform for what the cap was about to become because what happened next it what holds the beauty the people who came in search for fortune were driven but they didnt have much they worked hard and they used what they had they wore the hat the man invented for them but they had to take the hat off and on which put dents in top they slept in the hat when they were out exploring which dented the bill these men out on the range explores miners cattle drivers well diger s there sweat there blood there dreams there hope had formed something new the cow boy hat and when they walked into town people saw there hard work in there hat and wanted people think they had worked hard as well so they made hats that had the dents that bent the bills but these hats they were only copy only art the documentation of men who did work hard who sweat who bleed who formed a hat worth talking about
