Yesterday I left my house at 12:30 p.m and got home at 7:00 p.m- in that time Sadie Lynn delivered 5 babies, one had passed. The remaining four were not in good shape. 2 were on the other side of the kennel far away from her -cold, not moving still attached to their umbilical cords and sacs, the other two were in the house with her but cold and not nursing. I just knew none of the babies would make it. I brought them in warmed them, rubbed them, cut their cords, and gave them pancake syrup to raise their blood sugar. I still didnt think they would make it. After I got everyone in the house and situated Sadie Lynn did allow them to lay with her and didnt push them away when they started nursing. We ended up with a total of 8 live puppies by 11 p.m. They all made it through the night much to my surprise and thankfulness. Sadie is now a little territorial of the puppies and doesnt like for them to be fulled with much, which is surprising to me since when I found them initially she hadent had much to do with them. I guess she was just overwhelmed and once I got them all gathered up that helped her. Thanks to Selena Marcum , Sue, and Twala Ellison for the advice :) Please pray for Sadie and her babies, they still arent out of the woods.
