Yesterday I posted a hastily written and angry open letter to Rick Chiarelli regarding the all candidates meeting I am organizing on Thursday October 9th. After many attempts to contact Rick, I had assumed he was ignoring me and therefore had no intention of participating in the debate. It seems I was wrong. Terrilyn Walters-Hawley has informed me that Ricks team was unaware of the debate. I am willing to take them at their word. My letter was written in anger at being ignored,and therefore my tone was especially harsh and unbecoming of someone who is going to be acting as a neutral moderator. I have now been told that Rick has another commitment that evening but that he will make every effort to attend the meeting, if only briefly. I would like to apologize to Mr Chiarelli for my anger and the harshness of my tone. I believe in treating all people with kindness and respect and would be happy to work with Rick or any another person who is willing to bring positive change to our community.
