Yesterday, I posted about the urgent need for food supplies for 22 old ladies who are housed at the Mulvany Homes in Calcutta. For some inexplicable reason, these lovely seniors were bereft of a food sponsor and needed basic food supplies to survive. I didnt think very many responses would come in, but posted on Facebook anyway. The response over the past 24 hours *only* has been Overwhelming to say the least. Cash donations = INR 3,161 Food supplies *in hand* = 50kg + Grateful hugs to our first donors, namely Mommyfrog, Bony M, Rukshana K, Barnali D, and Sayak K. A lot of people have come forward and are transferring food supplies, money, etc. for the ladies. I am sure they will be very happy :) Some information which might help potential contributors - For those who are based in Calcutta, you could purchase your own supplies and send them over to my residence, which is the primary collection point. I will inbox the address and other details. For those who are based out of Calcutta or live abroad, you could visit reliable websites such as justkirana which will allow you to purchase items and have them delivered to my residence. Yes, they deliver within Kolkata. And yes, they do have the required Items. Price list from justkirana will be shared as a status comment so do have a look. For those who prefer sending money which will be used to purchase items, you could transfer it to my bank account. I will send you bills, receipts etc. and will ensure that your entire contribution is used wisely. Details will be inboxed upon request. TWO price lists are being shared as status comments. 1. Big Bazaar price list - Most of the items will be purchased from my local Big Bazaar. The list will help people figure out what they would like to donate and how much. Usually the 5kg packs are the most cost effective for items such as Atta and Rice. No harm whatsoever in acquiring 1/2 kg packs either. Prices shared are the minimum prices, i.e. the least expensive ones. I got them by personally visiting the store on June 4th 2014. They could vary by a few rupees. 2. Justkirana price list - The website delivers to Calcutta addresses and has the items we need. Check out the price list, place your order, pay, and the items will be delivered to my residence. The prices do vary slightly as different sites etc. have different offers and discounts. I am not affilitated at all with this website, it was recommended to me by a friend.
