Yesterday I posted what I was told was an urgent appeal for prayer - TopicsExpress

Yesterday I posted what I was told was an urgent appeal for prayer for children being threatened with beheading by the ISIS terrorists invading Iraq. I have since learned that this appeal has been circulating the Internet for several weeks and on further investigation no one has been able to confirm the validity of the claim. Here is an article from the CBN (Christian Broadcasting Network) that addresses the issue. cbn/cbnnews/world/2014/August/ISIS-Swallowing-Iraq-Theyre-Beheading-Children-/ I want to assure you that our intent was only to call us all to prayer for those in the body of Christ who are experiencing what CBN has called a genocide of Christians in Iraq at the hands of the ISIS. Most importantly I want to assure you that our prayers were not and are not in vain, even if the story of the children was inaccurate, because God looks on the heart and prayer is spiritual. It transcends the limits of the natural world. Even our imperfect prayers, God still hears and responds to according to the earnestness of our hope and expectation. (Psalm 138:1-8) The Internet, unfortunately, is not the most reliable source for news because items posted today can be circulating for months or even years with some seeing them for the first time years later. And more often than not there is little follow up to things randomly posted. So, we do try to exercise caution in passing along any information that has not been confirmed at the time of our posting. On this one it seems we missed it, so we apologize to each you for that. With that said, please check out the CBN article and please continue to pray for the church which IS being persecuted in Iraq and in many parts of the world. Thanks, Joseph
