Yesterday, I prepared a Thanksgiving dinner for about 20 people - TopicsExpress

Yesterday, I prepared a Thanksgiving dinner for about 20 people here. It was fun and a bit challenging to use different kitchen equipment to make such a large meal. I brought cranberry sauce, canned pumpkin, and stuffing mix, etc. with me in my luggage (boy, did I max out my weight limits). I was able to buy almost everything else here. I got a huge turkey and some giant yams. I couldnt find corn syrup, so substituted with agave for the pecan pies (it worked great). I made potato rolls, pumpkin pie, gravy, and mashed potatoes as well. The kitchen got REALLY hot. But everything came together and we had a wonderful evening together. I explained the traditions, and played the traditional Thanksgiving songs on YouTube. The rolls and pies seemed to be a hit, along with the cranberry sauce. There was a grandmother, cousins, sisters, and brothers, husbands, and wives - a typical Thanksgiving crowd - except it was in a lovely warm home in Focsani, Romania with some really special people. English and Romanian words flew across the house, with everyone helping with translations. It was truly an evening full of thanks for the wonderful people who have welcomed us into their home and lives this week.
