Yesterday I received a gift far greater than gold. I went to visit my Maw Maw Meades. She is 94 and bed bound for the most part. So I noticed her alarm clock was reading 11:30 and it was only 10:30 so I got up to fix the time. She commented that every time the electricity flickered the time reset. I then took out the 9v battery and went to find a new one in the kitchen where she told me. When I opened the cabinet I had to dig for a minute to locate one and I saw this old cigar box. I pulled it down and looked inside. Maw Maws hand written recipes. I carried it into the bedroom, changed the battery then sat down with the box. She immediately said, that is my recipe box. I told her that I love recipes and wanted to look through it. She immediately said she isnt able to cook anymore, that if she does cook now it is something simple. She told me that I could have it!!!! I thanked her and now I have something from her to always cherish. I have all my Maw Maw Lavignes hand written recipes too. They mean a lot to me. I do have quite a love for recipes. When Allie was born I started a recipe book for her and have since started Jaylen one. I hope they treasure it some day too.
