Yesterday I received an invitation from an old collage teacher - TopicsExpress

Yesterday I received an invitation from an old collage teacher asking me to speak to a current crop of students regarding health, fitness and business. Immediately I thought, why? What would I have to share with those students? I received a very average leaving cert and spent nearly 7 years in various jobs before I finally realised my calling! Then the penny dropped, maybe thats a better model than rushing into a career straight after school. I always wanted a career in fitness but I didnt get the point to be a PE teacher and i deemed a career in fitness as not being financially practical. I always held myself back. Now 10 years on Iv found my passion and purpose, I never work, how many people can boast that. Dont get me wrong I have long days, I hate paper work and my job can be tiring but I never have a knot at the end of my stomach on a Sunday evening because Monday is but a few hours away. If it doesnt make you happy then why do it?? School should have more emphasis on self development and life coaching. Only now in my mid 30s, do I see the value of these. Every student would benefit from learning on how to deal with emotions like worry and fear. These are life skills that would help shape and develop their character. Negative emotions are our biggest enemy, the only person who can ever stop you from achieving in life is you. Find what you are most happy doing and aim to be the best at it, you will be so consumed by passion that you wont have time for worry or fear. As an old friend of mine once told me you cant just be in fitness, you have to be into fitness, and he is dead right. The price of anything is the amount of life you exchange for it, spend your time doing what you love and you will have a rich life😄😄
