Yesterday I received news of the death of my former professor and friend I. D. E. (Isaac David Ellis) Thomas at 92 years of age. A native of Wales Dr. Thomas was best known for his book “A Puritan Golden Treasury” (Banner of Truth Trust, rev., 2007). Dr. Thomas was born in Carmarthenshire in Southwest Wales. He was a Baptist and a strong Calvinist, who also believed in evangelism and public invitations. A dynamic pulpitieer, he held pastorates in Wales and conducted evangelistic missions in the UK, United States and Canada, before being called as Senior Pastor at FBC Maywood, CA, a position he held for thirty years. As a Puritan expert, he lectured widely in conferences and at educational institutions. In 2009, the University of Wales named him an Honorary Fellow. Good bye my dear friend. I will forever be grateful for your influence on me.
