Yesterday I rode the Belmopan Cycling Classic. It was a brutal - TopicsExpress

Yesterday I rode the Belmopan Cycling Classic. It was a brutal race, starting off at 30 mph. Initially I hoped to place top 3 in my category. But at the starting line when I noticed the caliber of riders I got intimidated and was just hoping for top 10 in my category. Thing is, I didnt even finish. I cracked at Hattieville on the way back. I just could not go anymore. I was in pain. Everything was hurting. My back, my butt, my neck, and my triceps were killing me. I was dehydrated. I couldnt even eat during the race. But no excuses. I got my ass kicked. So...just as I share happy times and moments of victory on Facebook, I have to be honest and share defeat. I made some errors but I rode my best. The race was 110 miles and I rode 95 miles. Many other riders quit before I did. Theres nothing like hearing the sound of hundreds of tires rolling over the pavement. The race had a myriad of different characters. I wonder if other countries have the characters like Belize has. It was fun. Pura vida!
