Yesterday I sat in the shade of a porch under a bright sun and watched the events of swooping birds and scrambling squirrels unfold in the canopy of a 200 year oak that was poking out far above a neighbors two story home. Like he was a friend saying hi. I smiled at that thought. As I sat absorbing the bouncing sun light into my skin and eyes and observed the sights and sounds of this little space of earth I felt to the center of me a gratitude to be alive. This gratitude washed over me like a wave changing everything. I have been told in books and by teachers that the experience of gratitude is the single most powerful force alive in the human spirit, because it transforms every other experience into peace. Peace, I am told is the key to opening doors to imagination. Whatever one can imagine, one can attain. I imagine plenty. As I sat there, I was recalling a story. I was invited to watch a movie with my nephew and sister in law the other night. We were just hanging out after dinner as my sister in law turned on a film and said, Steve, youll like this. It is called Gravity. In this film, George Clooney and Sandra Bullock tell the story of how waking up each morning is the result of accomplishing an epic journey. For me, for you, for each of us. If nothing else were to occur but to have woken up, that is beyond enough. That is what I took home. As I sat and observed the ecosystem of an oak tree for hours I was glad that someone had written and produced it. Glad to be alive. I am going to a friends memorial party today. He lived a good life. Is still living a good life. A friend sent me this video yesterday. It is about the earth. Same feeling as the oak. https://facebook/photo.php?v=696481340404960&set=vb.146098378776595&type=2&theater
