Yesterday, I saw a Hispanic man and woman with their kids begging for money at the stop sign. Just feet from center st/hwy 14 at 430. I was in a hurry so I couldnt stop. These children looked to be about 1 1/2 and 2 1/2. This is not Mexico. First, panhandling is illegal here. Second, this is child endangerment. Stop giving these people money. This is a scam. I watched it for a year 3-4 times a week across from my store. A van drops them off. This van waits for them. Usually if they arent making much money they will leave within an hour. Ive seen them stay out for 5 hours once. They hit all the major stores in at least a 40 mile radius. There are about 4 different groups that ride in this van. If you feel compelled to give them something because they tugged at your heart strings...bring them some water and food. After all...their sign says they are hungry.
