Yesterday I saw my first butterfly of the new year, a bright, almost neon yellow one flying back and forth just outside my kitchen window. I later went outside into the garden and sat down to catch a little sunlight as a big fat bumble bee flew by twice and very near. (I always call them mice with wings!) Then last night my husband was getting some wood for the fire and yelled for me to come outside. There was a nice sized hedgehog just about a meter from the terrace. He/she didnt mind our speaking voices, but when my husband scraped his foot on the stone floor, the hedgehog stood completely still for a few seconds, then went scurrying off. This morning there must have been a million birds in our garden, all chirping and twittering away. Ive already told many stories about our squirrels and our fox! I enjoy visiting other places in the world, especially Greece with such fresh fruits and vegetables and the cleanest waters I know, but I am so content here at home.
