Yesterday I saw my psychiatrist in an emergency appointment at the - TopicsExpress

Yesterday I saw my psychiatrist in an emergency appointment at the end of the day due to an additional medication Id been given having a bad effect on my bipolar disorder. Medication has to be carefully monitored with bipolar because of the changeable nature of the condition. So she told me to stop taking those particular meds immediately and said that she wanted to see me at the earliest opportunity to check that I was doing okay coming off them. She looked on her computer and was clearly frustrated when she had to turn to me and offer me the next available appointment she had, which was in April 2015. She then looked to see if I could have an appointment with a different psychiatrist. The earliest was in two months time. Her only option was to send nurses out to monitor me. This is what this government has done to our mental health services. 25% of people will suffer from mental health problems in their lifetime. Do you love more than 4 people? If so, at least one of them is likely to need mental health services. And when they do, there may not be anything left anymore. Write to your MP at House of Commons, London, SW1A 0AA, simply saying, I am extremely concerned about the state of our mental health services and urge you to raise this issue in the House of Commons. Or Google Contact and the name of your MP and you will probably get an online form that will take you about a minute to fill in. And last but not least, USE YOUR VOTE at the next election and support a candidate who takes mental health seriously. Oh, and if you need anymore convincing, read this.
