Yesterday I spent some time with 2 dogs at IACC. Monkey and Jolene. Monkey is just a baby (big baby) at only 8 months old. Hes a thick Staffordshire that could be mistaken for a big silly block head (which he is but oh so much more). Monkey is high energy so yesterday I took him on walks around the property at IACC. A very curious pony came out to say hi. Monkey was curious at first but then hopped into a big play bow. The pony seemed excited too. After our walk I took Monkey up to the lobby. After his response to the pony I was curious about cats. Good response. He was curious but not in the bad way and moved along on his own. Even when a cat hissed at him he laid down and pouted. This kind of stimulation not only allows us to better judge a dogs personality but also for them, mental exercise is just as important as physical exercise. When I knew he was tired I put him back in his kennel with a blanket and jerky treat. He was asleep in minutes. This is Monkey playing with a squeaky ball before I put him back.
