Yesterday I spoke with a friend who is struggling with an estate plan that was put in place by his now deceased parents. The parents placed himself and his sister in authority of the estate. This arrangement might work in some cases, but not in most. In this case the estate has been in levels of misery for nearly 3 years and has not helped the relationship between the siblings. Those who are preparing estate plans need to seek wise counsel and consider the consequences for all involved.
