Yesterday, I suffered a severe case of ennui. That feeling when reality collides with ones preferred world. (My motto is: I live in my own world, but thats okay because they like me here.) I have my list of have to dos that cost money- get the ding in my windshield fixed, schedule the appointments for the cats shots and my eye appointment, and get a new roof on the cottage next spring. Then, I have my list of should dos - call a locksmith to fix the door lock, get insulation in the attic, and seal the places where daylight shows in the attic. Finally, there is my dream list which seems so far away - a laptop computer, a mulcher, a compost tumbler, and a hanging swing on my patio. But today, I got busy. Anyone who knows me well, knows I am the queen of ingenuity. A cold front is moving in and I hate high utility bills. So, up to the attic I went. I hang on to things that I think I might have a use for, which came in handy. Bubble wrap and old towels between the attic floor spaces provided insulation, a blanket and old curtains on the attic windows, old rugs on the parts of the floor that are boarded, plastic trash bags and tape on some of the attic cracks. One problem temporarily solved. Next I will make my own compost breeder. I have a spare plastic trash can. All I need to do is make some holes in it to let the composting gases escape, and Im ready to go. So, my ennui has been solved.
