Yesterday I taught Ursula K. Le Guins short story Schrodingers - TopicsExpress

Yesterday I taught Ursula K. Le Guins short story Schrodingers Cat. I made a Schrodingers box (sort of) and did a discussion experiment on my students to illustrate how the observer/scientist/reader skews the observed/experiment/story. Worked really well. The engineering and science students loved it. But thats not why Im posting. One of my students is Chinese. At the beginning of the session he was hesitant to speak in class because of his broken English (hes actually fluent). Now, he participates with confidence. He loved Schrodingers Cat and stayed after class to tell me he uses Schrodingers cat experiment all the time as a metaphor when advising his friends. He said, If a friend likes a girl but is afraid to talk to her, I say You can not be certain until you open the box. I love my students this summer and will miss them when the session ends next week. Theyve all been willing to open the box!
