Yesterday I trained power snatch, overhead squats and core. When I get to the bottom of an overhead squat I get this horrible forward lean and struggle to keep my knees apart and chest up. When I went on to core I was using TRX Reverse Crunches but I kept getting all the feedback through my groin and mid thigh. Looking at Anatomy Trains - if my core isnt firing then the body would lean more heavily on the muscles usually responsible for hip flexion and hip adduction, according to the Front and Ipsilateral Functional Lines. So I stretched the hip flexors and suddenly could feel my lower abs working really hard. They are weak because I havent been using them! With the core doing more and the hips flexors doing less surely this would give me a more upright and powerful squat. Fast forward to today and I comfortably doubled my 1RM on Back Squat, well ahead of schedule. Thanks Perry Nickelston and David Weinstock for your superb posts #NKT #anatomytrains #stopchasingpain
