Yesterday I transited from my anchorage in Pelican Bay to the St. Charles Yacht Club in Cape Coral, FL. Beautiful location and welcome swimming pool. I saw two things yesterday that Ive seen before but rarely and both were very exciting. A larger, faster boat passed me and in there wake (as there often are) were dolphins playing. But, these dolphins were leaping two to three feet out of the water. They were like kids having fun playing. Really fun to watch. The other fun thing to see was an osprey diving and catching a fish at least its own size then flying back to its nest. I begin a transit of the Okeechobee Waterway today. It has five locks between western and eastern Florida, the first of which Ill transit today. Ive gone through locks many times but this is the first time by myself so Im a little anxious. Ill need to drive the boat and tend lines simultaneously. Im prepared and anxious in a good way. By the way, Onward is the little boat with the black canopy top not my neighbor on the waterway.
