Yesterday I was a students union delegate to a meeting with the Imo state governor. It was all about the PVC issuance exercise which is about to kickstart in the state. Gov. Rochas kept us waiting from 12pm till 4pm, as we kept on waiting for his arrival from Abuja. We kept on hoping that the meeting would worth the wait. At a point, we the delegates grew so tired of waiting, and I was on the verge of leaving, then the governors convoy drove into the ICC. I was really tensed up, but I began to shed off the annoyance when the governor started speaking I had known Rochas Okorocha as a man always melodramatic in his speeches, but I was so amazed at the huge inspiration he imparted in me yesterday. He told us that he was just coming back from his Kwara state presidential campaign rally. In his words he said I have shaken Nigeria in the past few days with my presidential campaign declaration rallies...and I have tried to be so apolitical about it...all I want is a an IGBO president, irrespective of PDP or APC. I do not wish to leave the Imo state government house, but I want to prove to Nigerians that Igbos have a huge relevance and essence in this country...we can have a president of Igbo tribe...we will keep striking the camels back until its broken! After the meeting, everyone left the convention center and I was the only one left. The words of Rochas Okorocha filtered into my thoughts...it occurd to me that no Igbo man presently heads a federal executive office in this country. My heart was heavy and I felt a huge pound of responsibility hanging on my shoulder.
