Yesterday, I was escorting two visitors from Myanmar. A gentleman family friend, and his young female colleague. She asked questions that are very typical of the Burmese, one of them was, Where are all the women? Why are they so focused on getting married? Why dont the men respect women here? Is it really true that you shouldnt go anywhere just by yourself as a woman? Its really alien for us coming from a country where women out number men and were so used to doing things. So I explained to her that there are exceptions. That there are folks who are not so conservative, and that there are men who do respect women, that there are career minded women, and those who balance that. They might be few but theyre are changes that are happening. India will get there. This ad reminded me of our conversation. Its a great video - share it if you like.
