Yesterday I was on the phone with a market research firm, going - TopicsExpress

Yesterday I was on the phone with a market research firm, going over a questionnaire to determine if I qualify for a focus group. The gal sounded elderly and everyone knows, Ive got a soft spot for old timers. She warned me that it might take some time by saying, Now there are a lot of questions. But I cant tell you exactly how long it takes because the last person I interviewed kept putting me on hold about every ten minutes or so and it took a VERY long time. Naturally, I was incensed on her behalf. How Rude! I said. And so we began. There were multiple choice questions and some that required her to write in my response with pen. Every now and again, shed want to chit-chat about one of my answers. I told her I wrote a cookbook and she said, Oh! How exciting! and took a few minutes to write down the name of it so she could check it out later. At one point, she shared an anecdote about a great product that her daughter uses but she couldnt remember the name of it. It was like a cartoon where the hands on the clock spin and spin and spin. An hour rolled by. Then an hour and a half. She had to check a couple of answers with her supervisor which required her to call me back twice. In the end, were STILL not sure I qualify for the focus group. But if nothing else, I made a difficult job a little easier for a lovely old lady and that was worth 90 minutes of my time.
