Yesterday I went on a field trip with my daughters preschool class. We went to two different local farms, the first was a dairy farm. Once our tour guide told us two of the cows we were going to see up close were pregnant, it was tough to reign me in. Did you know cows are also pregnant for nine months? They sometimes (but not usually) give birth to multiples. They prefer to consume their placentas. Next stop was a different farm where we met a lovely goat farmer. She was showing the class a mama and two babies. Did you know goats are pregnant for about 150 days? The babies like to remain close by to the mama for comfort (and ease of nursing) but also enjoy exploring and eating grass from a young age. Amazing how many similarities we share with our animal friends.
