Yesterday I went to the Utah State Fair. Even though the Fair has changed a lot over the years... its still the same. The sights, sounds and smells all shout State Fair! There is something about the smell of fresh sawdust and animal shi...poo that is just reassuring and comforting to my soul. I always make a point to see the Utah DNR (Fish and game) building and the Home Arts. Mom Janet Johnson won a blue ribbon for her quilt... ooh-rah! I am jeopardizing my man status by saying; I really get a kick out of looking at the hard work that goes in to those items on display. I have enjoyed looking at the bottles of fruit for as long as I can remember. But looking at them is all I enjoy about them. I have done enough canning to know it is not my first choice of how I want to spend a Friday and Saturday during hunting season... know what I mean? I had a great time visiting the fair and doing some good reflecting on my memories of the Fair and Fall. Except for one memory, I cant seem to shake is, of the time Rod Larkin had to hand his baby Ryan Larkin off to a complete stranger, so he could be ready to start swinging if the drug crazed carneys, that had chased me down and were attempting to drag me... anyway, thats not important anymore... but thanks again, Rod, for saving my crazy butt. So, no more reflecting today is Friday! Get out, be crazy, have some fun and make some memories! ;-) (I won two 3rd place ribbons for two pictures I entered. Fun stuff!)
