Yesterday Joshua had a NG tube placed as a trial for tube feeds. A NG tube goes from the nose to the stomach. He had tube feeds during the night last night and did ok, only minimal stomach pain. This was going to be a trial process for a few days to see how he tolerated the feeds because before he couldnt handle them. He would have intense stomach pain and diarrhea. This morning he kept getting sick and thru up the tube! gross I know but thats what happened! In the morning they are going to place a NJ tube in which goes from the nose to the small intestine. He had this tube before about 1 year ago. We are hoping that it will be more stable and stay in place if he gets sick again. He will be under general anesthesia for this. We are hoping this works for him. If he doesnt tolerate the tube feeds then we will have to put a central line in his chest. He will have to have this type of central line anyway when he has his bone marrow transplant but they dont want to do that until they have to because of added risk of clots and infection. His arm with the clot is so much better. He hardly has any pain now. He just wants to go home so bad and hopefully sooner than later next week we can go home.
