Yesterday, March 5th, I stood in adoration, elation and pride for the Livingstone College Mens Basketball Team who were honored as the 2014 Champions of the CIAA Tournament!! There was a parade that journeyed through downtown Salisbury and ended on Monroe Street at the college gate. I was so proud to be a Livingstonian and to see the accomplishment of these young men and women. It wasnt a fluke that they won - they were well prepared and played all season with tenacity, skill and grace. It was OUR time to win this honor and we will savor it forever. After the parade, the celebration continued in Trent Gym where the Coach, Staff, Team, Cheerleaders, Pep Band, Administrators, Bishop & Mrs. Battle were all on hand to soak in the well wishes and applause that they were so deserving of receiving. As we sat in the gym, I was proud to look up at the many CIAA championship banners that are displayed for football, track and field, wrestling and golf. Livingstone College has produced champions for decades and we should always be proud to be a Blue Bear. Oh Livingstone, My Livingstone....you will always be in our hearts! We love you and again we are PROUD of you!!!
