Yesterday Morato Dancer finally arrived safely to join us here at Brightside Farm Sanctuary. Some may remember we posted her on our page as a feature about racehorses being slaughtered for human and pet consumption when she was at Echuca sale recently. She ended up not being sold for meat so we did not buy her. However 2 weeks later she was returned to the sale covered in wounds and injuries our friend Vickie Broughton alerted us to the fact that this poor horse had been returned and looked terrible. She was suffering from weight loss and injuries with many patches of skin missing. Vickie said it appeared that her legs had been tied together. We asked Vickie to bid for us should Morato be only of interest to the meat buyers which was the case. Vickie out bid notoriously cruel George Marsh from Laverton Knackery for us. Morato spent time with Vickie who nursed her wounds and got her ready for travel to Tasmania.
