Yesterday, a lovely friend of mine of many years was killed in a car wreck during the rainstorm here in Burleson.....something told me I should share my experience with her yesterday.... After the service at our country church, Oak Grove Baptist, was over, I heard someone call me twice as we were leaving to go to our cars. I turned and saw her at the back of the church leaning against a chair. I walked back and gave her a hug and we laughed and talked for about 10 minutes. She told me she was on her way to have lunch and celebrate 4 August family birthdays. She was 82......I noticed particularly how pretty she looked and how unusually talkative she was. As we parted, I told her to be careful in all this rain. Then, suddenly, she pulled me back and gave me another hug.....and we walked toward the doors to leave. Probably in another 3 or 4 minutes, she was gone. All this to say, we just never know when it will be over. We must treat every person, every conversation as if its our last....perhaps a cliché, but still true. I wish I had known that yesterday, but then, I dont think our last visit could have been any better, any happier...and for that, I a thankful.
