Yesterday, a middle-aged progressive, Democrat, feminist, white, lesbian activist (who makes her living at being an activist in the LGBTQ realm) and I were reflecting upon the election. I had mentioned that last weekend Id run into Rev. Jeremiah Wright, and that Id thanked him in a way that I could not have thanked him in 2008 -- that I understood more now about America and race than I had then. My lesbian activist white colleague posited that the election was what it turned out to be because we now knew what a bad politician Obama is. Oh really? I was not nice. I responded that if a bad politician could: pull us back from the brink of economic disaster; reduce unemployment from double digits to under 6%; address the nations crumbling infrastructure (thereby putting people back to work); get us out of two ill-conceived wars -- yes, two; take out Osama bin Laden; reform Health Care with a Republican plan; expand in revolutionary ways the rights and liberties of gays and lesbians -- all this with solid and tempestuous and determined Republican efforts to destroy him, then get me more of those bad politicians. And such a bad politician he was that he could take down, piece-by-piece the Clinton juggernaut and defeat Queen Hilary in 2008, and leave Bubba Bill babbling in South Carolina! Ill have more, please. My colleague sat there stunned, as I reminded her that she still blushed from her wedding of a few months ago, made possible by the nigger President that all the white Repubs hate and the Democrats ran away from. They ran from him. They lost. He didnt. He had victories. They saw him as a nigger. They ran away. He gets blamed. And guess what? I could have set my watch by it. White gays and lesbians -- lining up to blame him too, when they have every reason to lick his boots.
