Yesterday, about 10 of us, Jews and Muslims, embarked on a spread hummus, not hate bus tour of the Washington area to promote tolerance and speak out against anti-Semitism and Islamophobia. We made stops at the Muslim Community Center in Silver Spring, the University of Maryland College Park, the offices of the Interfaith Conference of Metro Washington, Farragut Square, Masjid Muhammad, and Georgetown University. At each stop we set up a table with homemade bread and hummus, took out our soap box and megaphone and delivered a message of tolerance and peace.
