Yesterday afternoon and the next two days are days of mud …lots of mud. Our production team will be in the midst of shooting the first show of our hunting series that is proposed for cablecast on the Sportsman Channel. We’ll be trudging through the fields near Murdo and the area has received close to seven and a half inches of rain over the past month. So for the film crew it will be a weekend of cold winds, wet feet and tons of mud. Granted I am not complaining, just an observation. And as I think back to my recent conversation with Holly Hoffman from Survivor Nicaragua where she talked about how lucky we are to be working on a film or television crew I just have to smile. In the muddy fields southeast of Murdo, that’s where the film crew will be finding glory. It’s the culmination of the dream for many of the crew. We will no longer be working on student projects or hobby films, for some of us no longer working on web videos or even TV commercials. It’s the first foray into working on a pilot program for a series being pitched for nationwide cablecast. That’s a big step. It’s not on a soundstage in Hollywood, or a studio in Atlanta or Albuquerque, but it’s where the story lies for this hunting series. It’s the muddy fields where pheasants and hunters do their dance and the fields of glory for the young shooters and crew on the production team. Honestly, the story doesn’t really matter to most of the crew, they’re just having the opportunity to do what they love with a camera and they are achieving a part of their dream in the profession. I guess Holly was right, we are lucky …very lucky. Find out how you too can achieve your dreams. Touch base with us today at the Black Hills Institute of Broadcast & Cinematic Arts.
