Yesterday, as I were shooting hoops (well, at least trying any how), I were suddenly visited by a fuller revelation of God and myself. My attention was drawn to a pecan tree at the front of our driveway. It was naked (leafless and the branches appeared vulnerable). Almost lifeless. But the tree itself appeared to be very much alive. The Lord revealed to me that the tree represented the Church, and the branches represented the various types of members. Ive noticed that there were many branches that appeared withered and about to fall off. Others that appeared to be filled with vitality but a strong breeze would easily cause them to separate from the rest of the branches and eventually die off. And those which seemed like natural branches that belonged to the tree. These represented the 3 different kinds of people who make up the congregation: The first group were carnal. Although they might have flourished with an effort to believe at one time, it had become vividly clear that they were convinced that once saved, grace became their ticket to a limitless lifestyle of sinning...free of consequences...free of blame. They have failed to regenerate. They believe Jesus died for them, but unfortunately, they dont understand why it was necessary for Him to go to the cross for us: sin. They think sin is okay to practice now and that those who try to avoid sinning are practicing the Law. The second group are impostors. They are lukewarm. They honor the Lord with their lips but their hearts are far away from Him. They are hearers of the Word only; not doers. The third group are the saints. True Believers and born-again Christians. Theirs are the branches that bear much fruit all year round. They are not seasonal. But underneath it all is the roots; the vine. The true source of life. This is the Christ. The Messiah. The Lord and Savior. The Stem, Root, Stump, Branch, Tree of Jesse. The Spirit of Wisdom. The Spirit of Understanding. The Spirit of counsel. The Spirit of Might. The Spirit of Knowledge. The Lord of Righteousness. The Lord of Justice. The Lord of Salvation. The High Priest. The Bread of Life. The Prince of Peace. The King of Salem. The Lamb of God. The Lion of Judah. The Way. The Truth. The Life. The Light. The Lamp unto our feet. The Good Shepherd. Our Sabbath. Our Mediator. The Name by which every knee shall bow. The only name by which we may be saved. Jesus is the Tree...are you one of His Branches?
