Yesterday, at Busch Gardens (Williamsburg), I was walking back - TopicsExpress

Yesterday, at Busch Gardens (Williamsburg), I was walking back from visiting one of the employee break areas, located in the England section of the park, and I noticed two traffic team members (team members is what BG/Seaworld calls its employees, and the traffic guys, natch, are those who regulate the flow of incoming and outgoing cars) standing in the middle of the path, located between England and Scotland (by the Dippin Dots/caricatures station). They seemed to be focused on something at their feet, and had a few visitors also engaged in it. Turns out it was a baby squirrel which had wandered out onto the pathway. It wasnt injured, but was a little disoriented. They kept it protected, while a caricature artist gently scooped the little guy up in her apron, and we got the little thing out of the way of foot traffic. I went and made a call to have our zoological department come take charge of the baby squirrel, and then returned to snap a few pictures. LOL It was all I could do to resist petting the little guy! Several of us didnt want to get our scent on him, in case they tried to return it to its nest, or into the wilds around the park generally (after tending it). He started trying to nurse on the caricature artists fingers (which she worked to minimize, again, because of the scent issue), and then perked up. Too cute! But a great rescue effort by several BG team members, and Im proud to say that I played a small part!
