Yesterday at Cub Camp my son made his own grill cheese sandwich on a Coleman stove by lighting it himself with a match, shot a pellet gun, sawed a log with a buddy, worked with his team to start a fire, lighting it with matches, figured out his bearing with a compass, lashed together a ladder with sticks, practised portaging a canoe in the muckiest mud pit imaginable and then zipped lined across a river to float back over with a make shift raft, all the while spending it outside in glorious fall weather with tons of fresh air, lots of mud and lots of friends, old and new. The day before he spent most of the day in the rain but again got lots of fresh air, trying chopping with an axe, made bannock on the fire and hung around the campfire.
