Yesterday, despite loud outcry, Idaho became the 9th state to sign into law a so-called Ag-Gag bill, which prevents journalists, activists, and employees from recording any footage of what goes on behind closed doors in factory farms and slaughterhouses. These laws have been passed because animal product workers have been caught horrifically abusing animals; using sick, diseased animals for food; and performing illegal, dangerous, and cruel acts with these animals. *This lack of transparency enables these practices to continue...making it impossible to know exactly how your food was produced.* To top this off, the USDA is running short on meat plant inspectors, meaning contaminated products can more easily end up on your plate.
