Yesterday doesnt seem real. The British Beard and Moustache Championships 2014 -a huge success with all credit to the committee for their unstinting hard work and attention to detail. I have a peculiar feeling of not having been involved; and yet, Im pretty sure I was! Ill never be able to tag everyone, but it was wonderful to catch up with old friends and new. Kieran Murray, for one; Damien Knight and Sailor Rowdy Rodigan Shabba; Alexandra Sarah Lily Hutchings and Allie Astell with Richie Finney; dearest Charlie Saville and Gloria Stoat-Pamphlet Michael Wallage and Edwin Venn - two special gents who were there at the start of my beard journey - just a few I am proud to know. I loved meeting the guys from Glasgow, and we were so proud to have the Texas boys joining us as well! Not to mention the small matter of a special appearance by Kane Palma-Newport! But of course I always fall in love with someone wherever I go, and on this occasion my heart was well and truly stolen by Michael Atters Attree. He must have distracted me by pinching my arse, thatll be how he did it... Perhaps the highlight, though, was putting faces, names and hugs to those Ive only ever known as a square inch of pixels. I truly love my Bearding Family and it meant the world to really meet Wayne Harrison, Adi Loosli, Mike Jury, Garfield Arthur Albert Shrimpton and Dave Hill amongst others. Having a quiet cry in my kitchen.
