Yesterday evening I was taking a stroll with my boys and there was this lady in front of me with her son. I didnt notice anything odd at first but I saw the clumsy way the boy was walking. He almost hit his head against a tree a few times as the mother dragged him along not even looking back to see if he was ok. I thought it was all part of the fun with their stroll till I noticed a white cable from the womans ears down her neck. She was on the phone and using her hands free.!! For almost 30 mins I was behind her she had been on the phone, gisting and laughing and not paying any attention to her son. I visited a friend and watched her 2 year old daughter start crying the minute the mobile phone rang and was picked up. She jokingly said my daughter does not like when am on the phone. Erm...... May be its because you spend hours on the phone gisting? Many kids these days are not happy. They’re pulling on their parents’ clothes. They’re pulling their arms. They are being dragged along. They’re acting out to get attention. A few times my son would scream, mummy, put the phone down (reality check). Yes mummy and daddy put down the electronics and be present as in really BE PRESENT. One day, sooner than you realize, you will be with your child, wanting to talk. But they will be too busy. Talking to someone who isn’t there. And why not? You were too busy on your phones and weren’t there when they were.
