Yesterday evening when closing up the duckies, I noticed one was missing. I found her laying on the ground, head weaving and body seemingly paralyzed; seemed something neurological was going on. I put her in a sled in the back of the truck with some straw and started feeding her antibiotics with a syringe through the corner of her clamped bill. Only her head could move- and it seemed to be unwittingly- again, neurological. She had tears streaming from her eyes...I thought she would die for sure. Thought about putting her down, but just couldnt do it. So I left her there overnight and found her this morning...standing, quacking, perky as can be- and an egg in the sled. She was egg-bound. Ive had egg-bound chickens, but never knew what an egg bound duck looked like...now I know! And if it happens again, Ive researched on how to help them through the situation. She was lucky this time, and so was I!
