Yesterday every single republican in the senate voted to protect Citizens United, which if you didnt know is the law that allows corporations and billionaires money into political campaigns. Its a big reason as to why we have corrupt career politicians instead of public servants. Over fifty democrats voted to repeal citizens united, so at least some of them were trying. At this point its safe to say that the republican party no longer stands for anything other than itself, and much less stands for anything I would call American. Its been this way for many years and its time to raise a public discussion towards the normal people who have been tricked into voting republican while thinking they are fighting big government. This along with the corruption conviction of the former republican governor in my home state of Virginia and many other scandals propagated by republicans over recent years have pushed me over the edge. Ive always been a socially progressive-independent in terms of my personal politics, but now Im willing to openly admit that I am a now a viciously radical anti-republican. The left wing/liberal movement is too nice to these certain republicans who have basically proven themselves to be evil. (which is an obvious sign of liberals more ethical mindsets.) Anyone who truly knows me already knows this about me. I wouldnt say Im specifically liberal or libertarian or anything, but I will say that if youre openly republican or conservative and consistently vote for them then youre probably also an idiot, or at least ignorant towards reality and our role as Americans in shaping our future. Im not saying the democrats are perfect, because many of them are corrupt or out of touch with their constituents as well, but there is a clear consistent difference and an obvious history of failure and manipulation on the part of the republican party. I urge all my republican/conservative friends to rethink your positions and why you think the way you do. If politics confuses/bores/annoys you then theres a good chance that your position is misguided and detrimental to progress in this country and you shouldnt vote or talk about such things. If this status offends you then feel free to un-friend me.
