Yesterday heard something scratching at the inside of our wood burning stove in the family room downstairs. It sounded like it really wanted out in a bad way to get to know me. Was scared to death to open the door and.peek inside as Kati Jo Heydeman and I have already done battle with one Bat since we moved into this place. It seemed to have subsided, and I kinda figured whatever it wad either died, or managed to fly back up the chimney, or so I thought till this morning when its scrat bing and clawing to get out intensified. Several things came very clear this morning, whatever was in there was tired of being in there, was definitely not dead, and had talons, claws or something that made fingernails on a chalkboard sound like music as it slid them up and down that chimney pipe. So.......I donned a hooded sweatshirt, went outside and pulled the cleanout plate off the bottom of the chimney stack, and waited as the culprit (a pretty good sized bird, blackbird maybe?) Emerged covers in soot, and flew away. Im just happy it wasnt a big ole bat!
