Yesterday in BFM (which for me is the best radio ever, due to my preference of course) had a discussion on the topic - race issues, should it be discussed in the open or should it be just hushed down) I like BFM for what i think is giving the opportunity for ordinary Malaysians to share and dialogue (though sometimes i find some of the BFM radio condescending, sometimes) I think the problem of open discussion in malaysia is that we take the assumption that Malaysians mix multi-culturally. And i have seen and experienced that we dont. We are very polarized. Even in the church sadly. And therefore my take on that issue - if we are going to talk about another persons race and there is only your race in the conversation (indchian for eg), then its best to not agree on anything. It would not be fair or even be based on wrong assumptions and facts. I know its a sad situation where i am even talking about race. But thats how we have set up our own families and country.
