Yesterday me and my friend Niall Ferguson went to Cineworld Union Square to see the new action thriller film Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit starring Chris Pine, Keira Knightley, Kevin Costner and Kenneth Branagh. In Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit Chris Pine and Keira Knightley star in an edge-of-seat espionage thriller about a rookie CIA analyst uncovering a sophisticated terrorist plot. Young recruit Jack Ryan (Chris Pine - This Means War, Star Trek films) thought he had a straightforward desk job at the CIA (Central Intelligence Agency) headquarters based in the Wall Street area of New York. But then he uncovered a plot that could bring the world to its knees without a single shot being fired. Jacks boss William Harper (Kevin Costner - Robin Hood: Prince Of Thieves, The Untouchables) promptly reassigns him to operational status and sends him on a dangerous mission to Moscow, where the sinister Viktor Cherevin (Kenneth Branagh - Frankenstein, Valkyyrie) awaits. But Jack has lied about his covert job to wife Cathy (Keira Knightley - Pirates Of The Caribbean films, Domino). And now she shows up in Moscow from New York demanding to know the truth! Tom Clancys Jack Ryan is one of the most enduringly popular characters in spy fiction. Hes been played previously onscreen by Alec Baldwin in The Hunt For Red October, Harrison Ford in Clear And Present Danger and Ben Affleck in The Sum Of All Fears. This electrifying reboot from Thor director Kenneth Branagh takes us back to Ryans previously unexplored early years. Amongst the other actors / actresses in Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit include Colm Feore (Face/Off, The Chronicles Of Riddick) as Rob Behringer an alley and friend of Jack Ryan, David Paymer (Payback, Nixon) as Dixon Lewis, Scottish actor David Hayman (British TV Series Trial & Retribution, Scottish Comedy TV Series Still Game) as Sergey Dostal and Michael Starke (British TV Soaps Brookside and Coronation Street) as an auto-plant worker. Filming locations in Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit include cities and places like London, England, Afghanistan, New York, the Wall Street area of New York, Moscow, Russia and the US States of Michigan and Pennsylvania. Overall Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit is a good action thriller film filled with action, war, shooting, fighting, explosions, chases in vehicles and on foot, kidnapping, mind games, close and near shaves and misses, race against time and plenty of on the edge of your seat stuff to keep you entertained throughout. So overall I will give Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit an overall rating of 3 out of 5 stars and I will say Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit is worth seeing. So if you get the chance to go and see Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit in the cinema then you should go and see it when you get the chance and you should see it if you like films like The Hunt For Red October, Clear And Present Danger and The Sum Of All Fears. :)
