Yesterday morning I formally launched my campaign to cut the cost of money transfers to the worlds poorest countries with a speech at St John the Evangelist church in Brixton. Many of my constituents use money transfer services to send small sums abroad - and get hit by outrageously high charges. Sunday 30th November was the first day of Advent - but it was also the day at which the G20 group of countries had pledged to reduce transfer tax charges to 5% maximum. They have failed to meet their own deadline - so we need to take action now. Sign the petition at stopthetransfertax and please ask your friends and family to do the same.
