Yesterday morning Parkers heart rate and respiratory rate were - TopicsExpress

Yesterday morning Parkers heart rate and respiratory rate were higher than his norm. I asked his nurse to check his temp and, sure enough, he had a fever. They sent off respiratory cultures and it came back this morning positive for flu type a. They started him on Tamiflu. But, they said weve caught it really early and he will likely get worse before he gets better. So far today, despite still having fevers, he is playful and in a good mood. His feeds are going well. Hes at his goal volume and theyre continuing to stay down. He did start having some leaking of stomach acid around his g tube insertion site this afternoon. Theyre hoping it was an isolated incident. He has to be able to handle his normal stomach contents without it leaking before we can even attempt to feed his stomach. Thank you so much for your love, encouraging words, and prayers. Please pray this flu doesnt hit him too hard and he recovers quickly. And pray that his g tube site will continue to heal add it needs to. I am praying to you because I know you will answer, O God. Bend down and listen as I pray. ~Psalm 17:6 #teamparker #prayersforparker
