Yesterday, my friend Ramsey Pursell Nuss and her husband Andrew challenged me to the #ALSIceBucketChallenge. In the spirit of their thinking outside the box and because they are donating to the cause, I accepted the challenge. Although I have mixed thoughts on the social media craze, data clearly shows that the challenge is bringing financial support to ALS, a horrible neurodegenerative disease with no cure as of yet. In this case, financial actions speak louder than the ice buckets. In addition to matching the $10 I spent on ice (support your local filling station), I will donate $10 for each of the people nominated in this video, namely Drew Petrey, Will Bryan, Corey Edwards, Jessie Groux, Austin McKinney, and--because I realized that he hasnt yet succumbed to the pressure after I made the video--I am adding Logan T. Matthews. For every one of you who takes part in the challenge, I will donate an additional $10 to the ALS association, which goes to research for a cure, care for those with ALS and public education of the disease. You have until my federal loan money runs out to complete the challenge.
