Yesterday, my son Chase was discharged from the Kennedy Krieger - TopicsExpress

Yesterday, my son Chase was discharged from the Kennedy Krieger Institute in Baltimore. My wife Sara and I took him up to his new residential facility in Massachusetts. After a year and a half of living in a virtual hell due to the incompetence of care he received at previous facilities, words cannot describe how indebted and grateful I am to the entire KKI staff for their expertise and hard work in helping my son get to this point and easing my suffering. We are anxious to see him succeed in his new environment and have hope for his future now that there is a detailed plan in place for his treatment. Ive traveled to and from Baltimore 12 times in the past 5.5 months. Im tired, very tired. However, without my sister Megan Crouch going to see Chase every day and making sure he is okay, as well as giving me a place to stay whenever I needed it, this would have been a hell of a lot tougher. Sara Strage Simon and I also visited 6 different facilities in 3 different states and asked countless questions over and over, and we both feel that this is the best place for Chase. I now live 3.5 hours from my best friend and son. The person in the World who I have the most in common with. Im not sure what the future holds, Ill have to wait and see. However, my children and their happiness is the only reason that God put me on this Earth. There is nothing else for me. Ive lived a life that most couldnt imagine and have seen and experienced things that most wouldnt believe. Now it is time to figure out a way to be close to Chase and enjoy every day that I possibly can with him, as well as ensure that Wayne has as normal of a life as possible. Time will tell what that solution is.
